Q. What is RCF? A. A Residential Care Facility is defined as a special Community with personalized supportive services
and health care designed to meet the needs, both scheduled and unscheduled, of those who need help with activities of daily
living (ADL) such as bathing, dressing, eating and monitoring medications.
Q. Who lives in Residential Care Communities? A. The typical resident is an adult that can no longer manage at home, a great alternative to the 24 hour care of traditional
long-term care facilities such as a nursing home.
Q. Is Residential Care Living covered by Medicare? A. Medicare
does not cover residential care specifically, but will continue to pay the direct medical coverage of residents, such as doctor's
visits, qualifying hospital stays and therapies.
Q. How is the bill paid? A. Residents or families generally
pay the cost of residential care living from their own financial resources in the same way as they would in an Assisted Living
Facility and Foster Home. Some types of health insurance or long-term care insurance may reimburse for all or a portion of
the residential care cost. The Administrator will be happy to review costs and offer assistance to ensure that all financial
avenues are researched for each resident.
Q. How is the cost determined? A. The cost of residential care living
is based on the type of apartment and the types of services each resident requires. Before a resident moves into the residence,
an assessment of needs is completed and the specific cost is shared with the resident and their family members.
Q.
What is the length of commitment? A. There is no long-term commitment. All rent is on a month-to-month basis. A 30 day
notice is required before a resident can move out, unless there is a specific change in the resident's health care status
that requires a more intense medical regiment.
Q. Are Residents allowed to have Pets? A. Please call or email
us to inquire about pet availability.
Q. May Residents decorate their own apartments? A. The residents'
apartments are their home. Furnishings are provided however decorating is the responsibility of the resident and their family,
or friends. The Administrator is available to assist with any logistical concerns. If you have more questions about decoration,
don't hesitate to ask!
Q. May I have friends come and visit? A. Residents' friends and family are
always welcome. If staying for a meal, a reservation is required and there is a nominal charge. Residents are also encouraged
to have celebrations or meetings in one of the common areas. Contact the Administrator for more information.
Q.
Do you accept Medicaid? A. Residents or families generally pay the cost of residential care living from their own financial
resources. Some types of health insurance or long-term care insurance may reimburse for all or a portion of the residential
care living cost. Residents must qualify financially and physically to be eligible. To find out more information about the
Medicaid Program, please contact our Administrator.
